The Whitehouses
Dorothy and Theodore Whitehouse
In honor of her father, professor Maynard F. Jordan, the late Dorothy (Jordan) and Theodore Whitehouse established a sizable endowment to the University of Maine Foundation, to be used to benefit the Planetarium and the Observatory, and support scholarships for students of astronomy. In honor of the endowment and the achievements of Professor Jordan, both the planetarium and the observatory were re-named in his honor in a special ceremony which took place on June 5th, 1993.
