Cub Scouts NOVA Explorations

Out of This World!

At the Versant Power Astronomy Center

When: Saturday, September 30 – 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Where: Versant Power Astronomy Center (The University of Maine, 167 Rangeley Rd, Orono, ME 04469)

Who: Suggested age is 7-10 (Grades 2-5)

Cost: $15 per participant

Participants will complete activities to fulfill the requirements for the Nova – Out of This World, including seeing a planetarium show and talking with an astronomy expert, learning how to focus and use telescopes and binoculars for observing the sky, building a pinhole projector for viewing eclipses, and discussing the upcoming solar eclipse.  All participants will receive a certificate of completion from the Director of the Versant Power Astronomy Center, who is also a Nova Mentor.

Nova Patches/pins are not included with the event, scout families should inquire with their local packs.  

Although this is specific for cub scout Nova awards, you don’t have to be a scout to join the fun.  Call and register today!
