A lunar eclipse will occur on January 20, 2019, starting at 9:36 PM and lasting until 2:48 AM the following day. Totality will occur between 11:41 PM and 12:43 AM.
We will be hosting a free eclipse viewing event here at the Astronomy Center starting at 9:30 PM, where we will have our historic Clark Telescope pointed right at the Moon! Our staff will be on hand to explain the phenomena and help everyone see it in all its splendor.
Unfortunately, this event is WEATHER DEPENDENT, so if the sky is cloudy we will not be able to see it. NASA and many other organizations will be doing their own streaming events that you can watch online.
To celebrate the eclipse, the public show on Sunday, January 20 at 3:30 PM is Totality: Explore the Wonder of Eclipses.
