Worlds of Curiosity

A Family Minecraft Astronomy Event

Saturday, June 15th: 10 am – 11 am

What if the Earth had no Moon? What if our Sun was colder? What if YOU were the scientist? Or a lunar base engineer?

VPAC is excited to announce a new family event in partnership with our friends from the WHIMC grant (What-If Hypotheticals in Minecraft). Come join us for an immersive, astronomy-minecraft experience! This Saturday morning special is designed to excite and interest children 8-14 years old, all the while engaging their parents/guardians in the delight of Minecraft and Astronomy.

Your ticket admits you to a 3-part rotation of activities:

  •  Sit back, enjoy, and question our universe during the Worlds of Curiosity film and a night sky talk.
  • Take a look at UMaine’s Observatories on a tour of our Planewave CDK 20 inch telescope and our Antique Alvin-Clark Refractor.
  • Show off your Minecraft builder skills with our laptops on our new Lunar Build Map and take some time to design and draw your own Hypothetical What-If World.

*Note: this is different programming from our weeklong WHIMC camps we have offered. If your child has joined us in the past, they will be excited to try our new Lunar build world!
